Leopoldo Martinez Nucete (1964) is a Venezuelan-American international lawyer, writer, social entrepreneur, and a former Congressman in Venezuela. Martinez was a Presidential appointee that served as Senior Counselor at the Department of Commerce, and was nominated to the U.S. Senate by President Biden to become the Executive Director of the Inter-American Development Bank.
Martinez Nucete graduated from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello UCAB (JD 87), Harvard Law School (LLM 89), Princeton University School of International Affairs (MCF 96) and the University of Miami Law School (LLM-Tax 2006). He was also a Professor of Law in UCAB and the Central University of Venezuela, and a Visiting Scholar at Harvard Law School.
Leopoldo Martinez is the Founder of the Center for Democracy and Development in the Americas, IQLatino and LMN Consulting, LLC. Leopoldo Martínez was a member of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), as well as one of the Deputy Finance Chairs and the Co-Chair of the Hispanic Caucus at the DNC. Leopoldo Martinez was a founding Board Member and the first Board Chair of Latino Victory Project.
He served on the Board of the Small Business Commission of the Commonwealth of Virginia and on the Board of Visitors of the University Mary Washington in Virginia, where he Chaired the Administration, Advancement, Finance and Facilities Committee, and was a member of the Executive Committee. He currently sits on the Advisory Board of the Sorensen Institute at the University of Virginia. Leopoldo served in the Government Transition Committee for the 73rd Governor of Virginia Ralph Northam.
Martinez is a writer, columnist and commentator for El Nacional, Univision, Wall Street Journal, Fox News, CNN and NTN24. He authored the books Democracia Económica (Princeton Academic Press, 1996) and 94 Paradoxes to think about the XXI Century (Editorial Dahbar, 2020).
Leopoldo Martínez (Venezolano-Americano 1964) es un abogado internacionalista, escritor y político, ex-diputado de la Asamblea Nacional en Venezuela. Se desempeñó como Consejero Senior del Departamento de Comercio de los EEUU, nombrado por el Presidente de los Estados Unidos. Asimismo, fue nominado por el Presidente Joe Biden ante el Senado de los EEUU para ocupar la Dirección Ejecutiva del Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo (BID).
Martinez Nucete es un Emprendedor social, Fundador del Centro para la Democracia y el Desarrollo de las Américas; también es el editor ejecutivo IQ Latino, así como co-fundador y primer presidente del Latino Victory Project, la organización para el empoderamiento del liderazgo hispano progresista más importante de los EEUU. Leopoldo Martinez, JD, LLM, es abogado graduado de la UCAB (1987) con maestrías en Harvard (1989), Princeton (1996) y la Universidad de Miami (2006).
Leopoldo Martínez ejerció como consultor en planeación estratégica y Director Ejecutivo de LMN Consulting, LLC. Fue miembro del Comité Nacional Demócrata (DNC), Deputy Chair de Finanzas del Partido Demócrata y Co-Chair de la Conferencia Hispana de la Dirección Nacional del partido. En el Estado de Virginia, también ejerció como miembro de la Dirección Ejecutiva del Partido Demócrata.
Martínez Nucete fue miembro de la Comisión Legislativa para el desarrollo de las Pequeñas Empresas en Virginia; y actualmente se desempeñó como miembro de la Junta Directiva de la Universidad Mary Washington en Virginia, Presidiendo el Comité de Administración y Finanzas y el como miembro del Comité Ejecutivo. Hoy día es miembro del Directorio del Instituto Sorensen de la Universidad de Virginia. También fue miembro del Comité de Transición de Gobierno para el 73º Gobernador de Virginia, Ralph Northam.
